1 Adverbial clause
Придаточное предложение, выполняющее в предложении ту же функцию, что и обстоятельство.1) По своим функциям обстоятельственные придаточные делятся на:а) придаточные времени (см. 2) Придаточное обстоятельственное предложение может занимать такие же позиции в главном предложении, что и обычное обстоятельство (см. Adverbial, 3). Средняя позиция менее характерна для придаточных, чем начальная и конечная, особенно если придаточное предложение достаточно распространено. 4) Если глагол в придаточном предложении совпадает с глаголом главного, то он может быть опущен или заменен на соответствующий вспомогательный глагол (см. Omission after auxiliary verbs):Few of his contemporaries were able to see into the future more clearly than he did. — Немногие его современники могли так ясно видеть будущее, как он.
